Photobiomodulation In Large Bowel Diarrhea And Gingivitis

by Joao Alves, DVM, MSc, PhD

Laser therapy is a versatile modality that can be used every day in veterinary practice for common conditions. Idiopathic Chronic Large Bowel Diarrhea is common in dogs, and treatment can be frustrating.

In this webinar, Dr. Joao Alves examines new research on the use of PBMT/laser therapy in patients with diarrhea and following a routine dental cleaning. Dr. Alves then reviews the science behind laser therapy before an in-depth discussion of his recent studies on PBMT on large-bowel diarrhea and following a routine dental prophylaxis.

A recent study shows that using Photobiomodulation (PBMT) may present a non-invasive, cost-effective, and low-risk approach to managing this condition and may aid in symptomatic relief for dogs with enteritis caused by other contributing factors. Other new research has shown the efficacy of PBM following routine dental cleaning in dogs in significantly reducing gingivitis.
