Evaluating, Treating, and Monitoring Osteoarthritis Patients
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most commonly diagnosed joint disease in companion animals. As veterinarians, it is important to be able to objectively evaluate patients to select the best candidates for specific treatments. Treatments such as platelet-rich plasma and photobiomodulation therapy have been the topic of several studies over the last few years, sometimes with conflicting results.
Explore this topic and evaluate the results obtained with platelet-rich plasma and photobiomodulation in the management of OA—particularly if their combined use leads to different outcome results.
In addition to providing the best treatments, we will discuss how to take advantage of an objective weight-bearing distribution platform to obtain an individualized evaluation of each patient and see how we can monitor their response.
Learning Objectives
- --> Identify the platelet-rich plasma and photobiomodulation mechanisms of action
- --> Recognize the potential of these two therapies in the management of OA
- --> Learn how to make the most of a weight-bearing distribution platform
